I have a project where all the topics use the same CSS, which includes various heading and other styles.
In one of the topics, the Style Window lists only p styles; no headings or anything else.
I can paste a heading paragraph from another topic and it retains the formatting, but the style is still unavailable to apply to other paragraphs in the topic.
I've attached a different css, updated the original css and reapplied it, and it's still the same.
It's not a showstopper, and it may be something really obvious, but I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

Re: Style Window not listing all styles available
The style window will only list the styles you can actually apply at your current cursor position. So, does the style list differ between topics when your cursor is placed in the <p> tag (or tag of your choice) in each topic?
Re: Style Window not listing all styles available
Thanks, I realise that. Even when in a p paragraph, it doesn't list any headings, even though they are listed when in a p paragraph in any other topic.
When in a heading that I've pasted from another topic, the only style listed is that heading style (which is not available anywhere else in the topic).
I should probably just recreate the topic from scratch, but I wanted to work out what was going on first, in case it happens again.

Strange! Sorry I'm not sure what could be going on in that case - just thought it was worth checking the basics as they still trip me up when I'm looking for the most complicated solution.
Re: Style Window not listing all styles available
Did you ever have more than the one CSS? If so, open the topic in the Internal Text Editor and make sure there isn't a reference to the old (not used) stylesheet.Cecily wrote:It's not a showstopper, and it may be something really obvious, but I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.
Also, although I've never really checked this, it just popped into my head -- do you have the XML Editor set to show the web view or print view? If it's set to web view, then maybe the style you're looking for has been specified in the print medium but not the default medium, so when you're in web view you don't see it.

Re: Style Window not listing all styles available
It's not the only CSS in the project, but when I opened the topic in the internal text editor, only the one I want to use is mentioned.
In terms of view, it is set to "Layout (Web)", but then so are all the other topics that use the same CSS but which do let me select heading and other styles. (Mind you, I can't see where you'd set a style to be valid in only one layout - not that I need to.)
Thanks for the suggestions though.

Re: Style Window not listing all styles available
I'd open the topic that isn't working in the Internal Text Editor and open a topic that is working the same way, then compare the top of the topics to see if there's anything different that may be causing the problem.
Also, are you using a masterpage? Is that pointing to a different stylesheet than the one that's listed in the topic? Although even if it does, the one in the topic should take precedence.
Did you open the stylesheet in question in the Internal Text Editor just to verify that the styles you're looking for are actually in that stylesheet? Especially if you went back and forth between Flare v3 and v4 -- going from 4 to 3 can strip out some styles due to differences in the versions of the software. If you went from 4 to 3, then you may have lost some styles and just not realized it.

Re: Style Window not listing all styles available
Thanks for those ideas. I couldn't see any difference when opening the problem topic and another in the internal text editor, I'm not using master pages and the stylesheet did contain the styles and worked for all the other topics using it.
As it only seemed to be one topic that was missing styles, I created a new topic, pasted the text in (a few paras at a time) and it was all OK. So, problem evaded, albeit I don't know what caused it, and my workaround wouldn't be viable if it happened again and affected lots of topics.
Thanks for the suggestions.
