Open WebHelp created with Flare (generated from Frame, but I don't think that matters) in Firefox 3. Click the Reload button (or navigate to another URL - outside help- and back. The left (navigation) frame disappears.
Right-click on that pane and select This Frame > Reload Frame. Still empty. Put cursor in URL field and press <Enter>. Left frame comes back.
This did not occur with Firefox 2. Bug?

And the toolbar is blank too, by the looks of it.
I do remember a problem like this with FF, when I first installed v3. The problem seemed to disappear by itself though, which makes me think it was something that was fixed in a FF update.
Anyway, first thing I would do is get the latest FF update if you don't have it (I'm on 3.0.6), and see if that changes anything.

I'm using FF 3.0.6 - no updates available.
Re: Problems reloading Flare WebHelp with Firefox 3?
Seems to me I remember reading somewhere that FF3 was using the security settings that can be set through Internet Explorer. Prior to FF3, FF didn't use IE's settings at all. I can't remember if that article was referring to the beta version of FF3, or the production version. I know that I don't have a problem with my FF3, but you might check how you have the Internet Options set up via IE. Or check the settings in FF3 -- maybe the production version went back to using FF's settings and something in FF3's settings has locked down something from running.
Anyone else know for sure whether FF3 is using its own security settings or if it's piggybacking on IE's settings for some things?

Anybody heard of a workaround? Is it only on Windows? I just had a false alarm on Linux, but it turned out one of our testers was using the Firefox 3 beta... whew!
Anybody try Opera yet?
That'll be my next stop.

At least worthwhile to check out....and one reason more to uninstall Firefox.

I don't think it's a security issue. FF isn't preventing initial load of the frames - just reload when you click Reload or browse away and back.
The workaround that I found is to put your cursor in the URL field and press <Enter>.

Re: Problems reloading Flare WebHelp with Firefox 3?
Since Microsoft made it so that it is impossible to uninstall IE (which is why they rightfully get into trouble in the EU) I meant to uninstall Firefox. The point of using an alternative browser is to have nothing to do with IE settings (OK, some claim it is not an IE setting, but a Windows OS setting....which gets used only by IE). Apparently, Mozilla wants to be more admin friendly and with that make behaviour of the Firefox browser to be different on each system and different between OS. The only thing FF has still going for it are the excellent add-ons and extensions, otherwise Opera is the clear better alternative (and faster, too).LTinker68 wrote:Uninstall Firefox or uninstall IE7?RamonS wrote:At least worthwhile to check out....and one reason more to uninstall Firefox.
