That is based on the number of posts in the forum. I forgot what the exact numbers are for the different levels. In any case, congratulations to your promotion.

I used the word (promotion) sarcastically since I feel like a micro-baby propellor head!
What does it mean the Simon Cowell of the Flare forums? Are you really grumpy?

Re: Propellor heads
I often just say how it is and some folks at this end of the world are sometimes a bit sensitive. So I was awarded the title "Simon Cowell of the Flare forums". In case of Mr. Cowell, he may come across a bit harsh at times, but often enough he just says what everybody else is thinking and he rarely is unfair. It's a European thing, we just get to the point and don't sugarcoat even the worst goof-ups like our American friends do.
For example Flare not supporting ODF is plain crap or the fact that the vast majority of users have a tough time to get the source control integration to work reliably is unbelievable. And the use of MSI for the excessively huge installation packages really makes me wonder if some at MadCap give a damn about customers. Well, I guess they do, they just assume that everyone has fibre to the desktop. I work with enterprise applications that are a fraction of the size of Flare and include a complete GIS. Why does Flare have to be so friggin huge?
That said, my list of complaints used to be much larger, so I happily admit that MadCap did an awesome job over the years. And just to make it clear, MadCap's support is among the best in the software industry. It can't get any better.

I agree that the Madcap Support is among the best. Everyone in the forums are great at getting answers pretty quickly. Thanks to everyone!

Re: Propellor heads
Just be glad you got a promotion.
After RamonS and LTinker got all posty on us and got up into the thousands of posts, TPTB (the powers that be) changed the numbers of posts required to reach a certain level. I got demoted from "Senior Propellus Maximus" to just plain ol' "Propellus Maximus".
TPTB tell me I need to reach the 2000 post level now in order to be a "Senior". Which means, I have still have to endure being shoved into my locker by LTinker and RamonS for like 600 more posts. Of course, I prefer substance over quantity, but that's just me! <just kidding guys! You are awesome!>

Ah, you're just bitter that I forgot to point out that you are in the Senior class yourself. Show off.
(Am I now provoking you?)

Nah, I'll just sweet talk (aka "bribe") Rick into knocking off a few hundred posts from Paul's count. Knock him down to Propellus Majorus.KevinDAmery wrote:I dunno if he was quick enough with that jk - I vote we stuff him in a locker....

That's ok...someday I play to be more than just at level Propeller Head. It does say alot about the product though, to have people with such a high level of posts. It must mean we all like to product enough to stick around. (or have nothing better to do that keep updating the forums)

Re: Propellor heads
So, RamonS, do you currently use Flare in your present job? Or do you just keep up with it for fun?

Re: Propellor heads
I keep up with it for fun. I use it at home for my personal projects, although at the moment I work on a translation of a book about on-line help in general and Flare in special. Quite a challenge.
Our tw here at my work is a Frame guy who makes, well, ugly web helps using WebWorks. And I blame that on WebWorks, not the tw.

Re: Propellor heads
Just to be a pedant: "propellor" is a legitimate, although uncommon, alternative spelling to "propeller"; but, in this case, my error since I didn't look at the way Madcap spells it.

Depends where you're from - if you make propellors out of aluminium, or make propellers out of aluminum.
