I will say that have purchased this book a couple months ago and I highly recommend it! I play to study it so I can take the test to become Certified Mad.

PS. I also recommend taking the training courses with Scott. The classes are a mix of fun and insite, and Scott takes plenty of time to work one-on-one on specific issues you may have with your own projects.

Does anyone know how to contact Scott? I have been trying like "Mad" (no pun in tended) to find a good training course... and keep being told none are being offered except online... my employer is willing to pay for courses... including travel...

Thanks for any info you might have on contacting Scott or his training courses!

Scott is very good at getting back to emails if you email him. He has helped me tremendously.

OH.. HE ABSOLUTELY IS... I emailed him the very same day Lisa made her suggestion and he replied either that evening or the very next morning... he was great and had a few suggestions.. I'm just waiting to see if I can find some other folks who want to share in the cost of a training class... can't seem to find anyone who wants to spend a few days in sunny Sarasota, FL! ;-)

THANKS!

Richard,

Could you please advise when a Flare 5 book will be available to support the latest version of Flare?

Hi everyone!
I've just finished updating the Flare course guides and certification test, and I'm now finishing updating my book for Flare 5. It should be available in a few weeks. :D

In the meantime, just let me know if there is anything you'd like to see covered in the book. I'll do my best to add it.

thx!

Crazy question, maybe, but is the 4.2 book still available and where can I get it?

Thanks,

Hi everyone,
The new version of the book is now available! I've added over 30 pages covering the new features in Flare 5. I also added more tips and tricks and sections about Feedback, topic annotations, and topic reviews.

The books is available for $32 at http://www.lulu.com/clickstart

Thanks for asking, and I hope you enjoy the book!

Thanks, Matt!

Relationship tables are only covered at a high level--definitely not to exhaustion! That'd take 30 pages by itself!

I though about writing an advanced Flare guide earlier this year, but I'm going to wait until Flare 6. That will give me more time to gather content, and I can include the cool features they add in the next version.

yea, reltbls are very interesting and could take up some serious document space if you started to really dig into the rabbit hole.

HA!

I don't know anything about Flare 6, except that it will exist sometime in the future and it will be cool. 8)

Personally, I'm hoping for outputs for eBooks and mobile devices!

I live in Canada and dealing with ordering through Lulu with cross-border shipping is a hassle. Is it possible to buy the book as a PDF or other e-book format?

Thanks

Hi Keith,
Sorry you've had trouble with Lulu. I've talked to many people in Canada, UK, Australia, and Japan (among others) who haven't had any issues with them. I've also arranged to ship books from Lulu to Canada without any problems. If it is easier for you, I can have them ship the book to you and you can pay us directly with PayPal. Just send me an email and we can set that up.

The book is not available as a PDF. It may eventually be available as an XPS or EPUB format, but that would probably be in 12 months.
