Flare changing table settings; odd appearance in editor

Hi again.

Two related issues.

I have Notes formatted as 1-column tables, 100% page width, applied through a table style

I figured that it would be best to have table width set as 100% and column width set as Auto. Flare, however, seems to think better, and resets both table width and column width as 100%.

The related issue is that this also often, but not always, results in the table appearing in the XML editor quashed with a narrower than 100% width.

Looks as it should in preview and compiled help.

I thought I was going senile when I first saw this ("I'm SURE I changed that"), so I got our other TW to go through the project.

Any ideas?

Hi - I have seen the same problem with tables not displaying properly in the XML editor (always builds OK). I reported it as a problem in Jan and it is being looked at - no solution yet.

FYI - my tables are usually set to "Auto fit to window - 100%", and the columns are set to a percentage (30/70 usually). To make it workable to edit text (workaround until bug is fixed), I make sure that I toggle to show the table blocks, and if I click in the column width setting (where it says 30%) and click out again the table is re-displayed.

Wow, I guess I'm not the only one. This issue started (for me) with 4.0. I reported it but Support could not re-create it. I really hope it gets fixed soon because it's very annoying and affects productivity.

Perhaps more worrying is that the table settings sometimes change - has anyone seen that?

This particular observation is with a one-column table - changes col width from auto to 100%. Not a big issue as it compiles OK and does what I want it to.

On other occasions, however, Flare has changed fixed width cols to % width. I usually set col widths to a fixed pixel value, all but one coll, which I set to Auto. With the table width set to 100% the auto col should float to fill the screen width regardless of window size. On occasions (perhaps when I've forgotten to set a col to auto), when I reopened the topic the cols were set to % values. On double-check, all tables were set the way I want them and appear to be stable now.
