Search functionality in HTML Help

Post by MC Hammer »

Hello everyone
I have been looking at the Search in HTML help and would like to understand how it works in more details. I came across a KB article (How Search works in various Flare outputs) which seems to be outdated.
In my HTML Help outputs, there is ranking on returned search results. The article says the opposite.
Is the search still simple text only and what is the ranking based on (number of occurences in a topic? is it style-dependent?)
Also, I am using the Advanced Search capability. Do you know if it is possible to have the "Match Similar Words" & the "Search Titles only" ticked by default?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, Marie-Claire,

Have a look at these articles:

http://helpware.net/htmlhelp/hhfindingtext.htm

Unfortunately, there's no configuration setting that you can use to set the initial state of the "Match similar words" and "Search titles only" options. The first option is checked by default, and the second is unchecked. However, any changes that the user makes to these two options are preserved between sessions.
