Snippets and Stylesheet links

What is the best practice (are best practices) for linking stylesheets to snippets (Tools menu)? When should one link to a stylesheet and why? I did not see this in the Help system.

If you have just one main topic stylesheet then you don't have to worry about linking the stylesheet to the snippet. When you insert the snippet into the topic, it'll automatically pick up the styles from the stylesheet the topic is using. If you create a snippet using the Insert menu, then I believe it automatically inserts a link to the stylesheet so that as you create the snippet you'll have access to all the styles in the stylesheet. I think the behavior changed slightly in v4 with the advent of the master stylesheet (set at the project level).
