We are now finally creating print documentation from our Web help. However, when I originally set up image profiles in Capture, I set the print output for images to 300DPI - thinking this would give us a nice, sharp image. However, what it's done is create super small images.
Now, I want all my images to have the print output size of Default. Is there a way I can do this in the Flare project all at one time - in the style sheet maybe?
So far, the only way I can see to fix this is to open each image individually in Capture, change the print from 300 DPI to Default, and save the image. That's a LOT of images and a lot of time if I have to do it that way.
Your suggestions for globally changing this property in all my existing images is very much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Print format for images - is there a global way?
The image size is actually set in the .prop file with the same name as the image that you inserted. The .prop file is an XML file that you can edit in a text editor.
If I were doing what you want to do, open an image's .prop file in a program like TextPad and find the attribute that sets the DPI. Then I'd use a find/replace function (TextPad will let you run the same Find/Replace on all files in a particular folder) to locate all the instances of that in the project folder.
It depends on the tools you have available, but knowing that you can change it outside Capture/Flare in a text editor may help you evaluate what tools you have available and then use those tools to quickly do a global find/replace on all images in your Resources folder.

i've done this before. this is one way to do itparsonsv wrote:...I set the print output for images to 300DPI - thinking this would give us a nice, sharp image. However, what it's done is create super small images.

via the Flare stylesheet, print medium, with min-width and min-height properties.
Try this first, then adjust. You could use min-height instead of min-width. up to you.
There's another method, that's callled batch processsing of DPIs in an external tool. but try this first.
once this works for you, do post a featyre request, for batch processing of images in

for some backgrounder on images - from the forums, its more of a conceptual discusion of graphics. you could just do a quick scan through.

Re: Print format for images - is there a global way?
Be careful about setting a min width for images. If I were to do this, I'd do it to a class of <img> because there are many images in my output that need to be smaller than 5 inches. I have icon screen shots from the toolbar. These should by no means be 5 inches no matter how you look at them. So before you implement this solution, consider the ramifications: this solution will resize the display of EVERY IMAGE in your project to a MINIMUM of 5 inches in width.

doc_guy has a good point.
this is one work around. there are tools that you can batch set the dpi in the image header. i think sna-g-t does it.
