images and page layout

Post by alaltenburg »

Hello,

I am working in the page layout and have created an image frame and selected my image. When I do a build, everything in the page layout shows up except the image. Does anyone know why that would happen?

I have tried moving the image frame all over the page, so I know it's not being hidden by the red decoration bar.

Thanks,
Andrea

I had a similar problem just recently - see http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =10&t=9151

The bottom line is that only textual based page layouts are generated out of Flare into MS Word, images, backgrounds, borders ect are not :x I think PDF output works OK.

My understanding is that this is a compatability issue. I believe the Madcap product manager is looking into this and also some techniques to mitigate i.e. some post production method workarounds.

Thanks for the info. I am actually outputting to PDF and remember I had it working awhile back, but do not know what I did to make it not work.

I'm having a similar issue trying to get a background image from a page layout to appear on the title page in my Word output. The topic text appears, but no background image. I've submitted a defect to MadCap.

I'm having this issue now and I can confirm that it was working fine before. Has anyone identified a cause and solution?

Working with MadCap, we came up with two solutions that worked for us. The first is really a work-around that happened to work, the second may be more reliable:
  • In the target, I had specified an explicit path for the output folder. Changing this back to (default) fixed the problem!
  • In my case the images were set as the background of the decoration frame (Right-click on the frame > Properties > Background > Image). Setting the background image to none, using F2 to edit the decoration frame and the "insert a picture" button to insert the image into the frame instead, fixed the problem.
Hope this helps.

Hi,

I am outputting to Word 2007 and all the screenshots are missing. Has a solution been found for this? I tried setting the output folder to "(default)" but this didn't help....

Thanks,
Rosie

Are they not showing at all in the Word file when viewing it from the output folder, or are they not showing when you move the Word file out of the output folder?
