We are looking for some feedback from our customers on Mobile devices etc.
1. What device(s) would access the help?
2. What browsers (if not the pre-installed browsers) should we support?
3. And how would the help be distributed, to a web server or onto the device itself?
4. Recommend a site you like the Help to be based after (like Dells mobile site)?
Thank you,

Hi Rob,
we are looking into using Flare output for help on mobile devices. To answer your questions:
1) All devices with Windows Mobile 5 or higher
2) Internet Explorer, Opera
3) Onto the device itself
4) no recommendation
If you'd need further detail, please let me know. I'm the technical writer and would check with our developers on the specs.

Re: Questions for a Mobile Target? Asking for input...
If I were trying to create a mobile site, I'd need to be able to target the following devices:
1. Windows Mobile 5+, iPhone/iPod touch, Blackberry
2. Safari, IE
3. Both, ideally. It would be nice to be able to make an app for help, if we wanted to, but likely it would be served off a web server.
4. CNN does a great job creating a mobile site from the same content that is on the main site.

1. Windows Mobile 5 or higher
2. Pre-installed browsers
3. To the device
4. Something like the Dell mobile site would be great:

Another thought, some kind of preview from Flare would be nice (with an adjustable screen size), so you can see what the help pages would be like on the smaller screen. It's a pain to have to sync to a device to test the help
Cheers

Re: Questions for a Mobile Target? Asking for input...
This thread seems to be all I can find on support for mobile devices...
I just got this from one of our developers: "The help files were slightly incompatible with current standards for them (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms229662.aspx). I made changes to the files.
Please, take this into account when making next documentation package." !!
The link he gave me starts like this...
"How to: Display User Help
The .NET Compact Framework provides access to the Windows CE Help program, peghelp.exe, to display Help topics for Pocket PC applications..."
While I quiz the developer for more information about how he changed the help files so they'd work on Windows CE:
Anyone know anymore about this? Madcap boffins: are you working on targets for mobile devices?
