Capture v5 on a quiet release

Post by forfear »

Capture v5 was out on a surprisingly quiet release via the automated built in product news announcements in Flare.
All the same, here are some first impressions. Until the professional users post something more substantial.

There's lots of nice things to like in this version of Capture v5. See the full list of features
Capture v5 what's new.

Overall, its becoming a more compelling option for working with and standardizing hundreds,or even thousands of screenshots, graphics in your help/print projects now.

Anti aliasing is now standard, lines are rendered smoothly - no more jaggies.
Batch processing is now possible - its what you've always need in an industrial strength image capture single-sourcing application.
Watermarks, layers, conditions are now possible, due to new features in the profiles editor. Combine that with batch processing, Capture is becoming a true blue , single-sourcing graphics capture/processing solution.
Layers palette!

Small things you won't see on the feature list but long time users might notice
- Accessing predesigned objects like standard stock callouts are a lot easier. Predesigned callouts and arrows (object) libraries are now displayed in the palette now for quick easy annotation. Very convenient. Nice!

Screencapturing has been stagnating a bit in the software industry for awhile. A bright spark in an otherwise uncertain time! Good to give the demo a run, if you weren't too sure about it before.

Stuff most people will be confounded will be HD Photo format support. Its more a capability of .NET Framework 3.0, and there is lack of image viewers out there for this new format. Nonetheless all the other popular image formats are still supported.
If you submit your bug feedback request here, the more likely it'll get fixed or included in a future release
