We started using Flare 5 with our Help this week, and ran into an interesting issue when testing. In Flare 4.2, Popup targets would appear in a box near where the link was, moved slightly to fit on the page if necessary. In Flare 5, these windows are mis-positioned if the topic the link is in has been scrolled down. One of our topics, for example, is a list of description fields, with popup topics for each of the 60-odd fields. Scrolling down past 20 or so, the popup would no longer be on the screen and you would need to scroll down to see it. Past 45, it would actually extend the topic beyond the normal end, into white space, and cause you to have to scroll even further.
I'm assuming that the javascript used to create popups is at fault. Anyone know where this is located, and what might need to be changed?
I did open a help ticket for this issue; if I get info I'll add it here.
Flare v5 Popup Targets
Re: Flare v5 Popup Targets
I found this two days into running V5 and reported it. Please report it as well so (hopefully) it'll get fixed sooner.
Re: Flare v5 Popup Targets
We have those problems, too ... we will go on working with 4.2, because we have thousands of popups in our projects ...

I looked for it, too, because now (up to 4.2) I get scrollbars from popups that get too close to the right or bottom end of the help window ... maybe they tried to correct that ...

Re: Flare v5 Popup Targets
Yes, this behavioral change from v4.2 is duly noted here also. The first thing I looked at was the styles.css editor, hoping to find the attribute to make these popups behave more like they once did. Would any of you Super-Wonky-PropHeads out there have anything to add...? I'm inclined to think it's more likely a source issue; the output behaves the same way in IE or Firefox. Thanks & cheers, =dg=

My hope to have my longtime problem fixed is spoiled: It's still not fixed ... I reported it the first time for Flare 3.1 ...
What can be so difficult changing the javascript accordingly? The new problem described in this thread was a lot more complicated than my initial issue ...
Re: Flare v5 Popup Targets
The issue I reported is fixed, per this e-mail:
The scrollbars in popups is an occasional nuisance that has been around for a few versions tho; hopefully it will be corrected eventually.

I know - but that is only the BIG bug, not the tiny one ...JasonSTI wrote:Code: Select all

"occasional" ? definitely not ... "each time you have a popup link too far right or down the help window" is precise ...JasonSTI wrote:The scrollbars in popups is an occasional nuisance that has been around for a few versions tho; hopefully it will be corrected eventually.
