What is this "Value" in the Alias Editor? What does it mean? See attached picture.

That's the map ID that a programmer can code into your app to call that specific topic in the help. They could use the topic's file name or they can use that map ID. When the program calls the help with that parameter, the help will match the value of that parameter to the associated topic and will load that topic in the help window.

Lisa is correct, With a CSH call you can call a value or an Identifer, it does the same thing, its just which is ever easier for your programers...

With WebHelp you can also use the topic file name in the CSH call and circumvent this whole alias / map ID stuff. The downside there is that using file names is cumbersome when they file names are long and / or change often.
