MS Help3

Post by booey »

I wonder if Madcap are looking at supporting a target to create Help3 for VS2010 when it is released. Any views on this?

I'd say that all depends on if Microsoft decides to *actually release* H3 for widespread use (beyond their own applications/VS addins). They have let us down with Help 2 and Assistance Platform, both of which at some point were supposed to be new help standards.

But, assuming they decide to bother supporting a new help standard for the Windows platform, I would guess Flare will support it. I'd be very surprised if they didn't.

As it stands right now, Microsoft's recommended help platform for Windows 7 even is CHM, the successor of WinHelp. That should already put it into perspective and show how much Microsoft really cares about help, tech writers, and customer support.

Hell, all you need to do is try to use the help for something like SharePoint. That'll teach you very quickly how much Microsoft cares about help.
