When I click "Search" in my compiled Web Help, there is a long lag as it loads.
Any advice on speeding this up?
Is it loading the whole search database that takes so long,
and is there someway I can trim that?
I've noticed that there are some interesting options in the Target file, but I don't understand how they might help (or hurt) my search loading times.
Pre-merge index file or search database file? What the heck does that mean?
What are the drawbacks and advantages to loading speed of the "Include SQL Search Database" option?
And I don't understand what the "Chunk large" feature will do, performance-wise, either. (There is a lengthy paragraph about this in Flare's online help that really makes no sense whatsoever, IMHO.)
Anyone want to share their experiences in using these various settings?
Anyone else encountering looong loading times for the search feature in Web Help?

Search takes a looong time to load, what's the secret?
Re: Search takes a looong time to load, what's the secret?
The pre-merge search database option should help speed this up if you enable it. That's assuming your project is like ours, with numerous topics and subprojects. It made a huge difference in search speed, going from a 2 minute search to a few seconds. Instead of looking throughout the project for the search, the pre-merge feature stores this all in one location.

Thanks for the tip,
but I'm all one project!
(Lots of harrowing sub-folders...)
