Any Issues with Flare 5 and mini TOCs in WebHelp?

Post by nluoma »

I have recently upgraded to Flare 5, and have suddenly begun having problems with my minitocs. I originally placed them in topics, rather than in the masterpage, so they would only appear in the intro topic of my sections. However, when I rebuilt my help system yesterday, the minitoc for my new section didn't generate. I read through the help, and all the references say it has to be done in a master page. So I created a new masterpage including the minitoc, but still no luck. I then opened the file in Flare 4, but still couldn't get the minitoc to appear. However, I did discover that all of the topics I added originally in 4.1 now have two copies of the minitoc--one from the page which I had put there before, and the new one from the masterpage. On my new pages created in Flare 5, no minitoc.
Anyone else having a problem with this?
Did anything change in the application with minitocs?
Thanks!

To my knowledge, mini-TOCs have never needed to be put into a masterpage. I've certainly never done so.

The topic you placed the mini-TOC proxy into... Is that a level above the topics it references (i.e., it's associated with a "book" and the topics are inside that book)? I'm assuming so since it worked in v4.1, but I want to double-check.

If you delete a mini-TOC proxy from a topic and re-add it (in v5), does that work?

My miniTOC is on a topic associated with a book in the Table of Contents. When I use them in 4.1, it then generates links to all of the other "pages" in that "book".
If I delete and recreate the minitoc proxy in Flare 5, it doesn't work.
If I open the project in Flare 4, delete the minitoc proxy and recreate it, it does work.

Does work in Flare 4 or now also works in Flare 5?

It only works in Flare 4. Even if I create the proxy in 4, when I build in Flare 5 there are no TOCs generated.

If you try it in one of the sample projects in Flare does it still do it? What happens with a new or different masterpage in V$?
