No headings on Glossary?

Post by jgoldstein »

I've set my Glossary proxy to automatically generate headings but the headings never appear. Is there some other setting that I need to look at? I'm using Flare 5, WebHelp output.

thanks!

Unless something changed in v5, the Glossary proxy and headings only work for print output, not WebHelp output. In WebHelp output you get a Glossary pane (if you set it up to be included).

Really? So, if I had a long list of terms in the glossary pane, there would no headers to divide the terms up into sections? How odd. Doesn't sound particularly useful in that case.

thanks,

I think I asked in the past for the capability of using the glossary proxy in WebHelp output. Make sure you submit a feature request as well to http://www.madcapsoftware.com/bugs/submit.aspx.

Thanks to MadCap support, I've learned that I can have headings displayed in the topic where I'm using the glossary proxy (this is in my WebHelp output). In the style sheet, there's a style called MadCap|glossaryProxy. Find the property called mc-glossary-headings and set that property to true. If you're in the Advanced view, switch to Show: Assorted Relevant Properties to find this property quickly.

I did submit a feature request to be able to have headings that are collapsible/expandable in the Glossary pane (having a long list of terms in that pane just didn't seem to be the best solution).

regards,

Joan

That style was added in v4 -- I hadn't played with it so I didn't realize it would work in WebHelp output. Good to know.
