How Can I Convert Tables to Text?

Forgive me if this topic is already covered somewhere in these forums...the search phrase "table to text" is rejected by the forum search because all three words are too common, and I can't think of a way to ask this question without using those words.

I inherited a couple of hundred .htm help files and brought them into Flare. All of the topics are formatted in tables and I'd like to remove the table but keep the content. (Deleting the <table> tag in Flare deletes the content, too.) Does Flare have a table-to-text feature similar to the one in Word?

If you have version 4.x or higher, then you can copy the table and when you click paste you can specify what you want done with the content. I don't have it running at the moment, so I can't remember if it has an option that's close to the convert to text feature in Word. You might lose the spacing between content in the same row.

I just tried this (in Flare 5.0) and I don't see any options for Paste. I can copy the table and paste it back but just as a table. I did try the Copy XML as Text option and that doesn't work either.

I suppose you could build a Word version of the file, do the table to text in Word, and paste the text back into Flare, but that'd be a hack. Or write some XSLT to work on the raw files.

If Flare doesn't have this capability, I'm going to put in an enhancement request - it's something I use a lot in Word and it'd be useful to have in Flare.

As an update, Kip in Support submitted feature request #31146 on my behalf to add table-to-text capability.
