Reduced Images

Post by Lucia »

Hi everybody,

I'm working in a Manual for which I'm generating a PDF output. I'm reusing some previous content also from Flare, and there are some images. They all look great. For the new information I am adding, I'm also making some prints, using MadCap Capture. The prints are also all right. The problem I'm facing is that, when I insert the images in my Manual, they look reduced. I haven't set any property, as far as I remember. I use Flare 4.2 and have never faced such a problem before. If I resize them (not that I like it, just to check), they look with a bad resolution.

Does anyone have any idea of why this might be happening?

Than you very much.

Hi Lucia,

Here are some things to look at when troubleshooting image appearance:
- original image size/resolution
- any image sizing done in Flare (see the code as shown in the Internal Text Editor view)
- target settings for the output type (PDF, WebHelp, etc.)

You can also copy the code from the Flare topic to your forum posting, as well as the output type. That'll make it easier for us on the forum to help out. :D

Hi Pamela, thanks for your help.

Well, I figured out what was causing the problem: in Capture, the "Flare Print Format" property was set as 300 DPI, which was causing the image to be smaller in the print format. I set it as 96 and now it's all right.

It is so silly, but I really couldn't find it soon enough.
