OK, we've been using Flare for a while, and now we're starting to use Capture. Here's our complete newbie question...
We've been experimenting with generating some screen shots using Capture. We've noticed that each image has an associated property file, and when we open this we see that it basically includes the things that we've set in the Profile when creating that particular image. We also noticed that this properties file includes the file path and name.
Is this just a temporary properties file used when creating the image for the first time? If not, we're wondering what the implications would be if we move and/or rename the file and whether this metadata will be maintained somewhere (i.e., so that the Profile stays with the image, whatever its name or location).

Re: Newbie Question: Moving files
Interesting question about the path -- I don't know how that works. I *do* know that if I keep a .props file in the same folder as the image file, I have no trouble moving it.
.props files are not necessary, but as I understand it, they are what enables you to perform non-destructive editing on your pictures. So as long as your image has the .props file, you can move your callouts around, edit their text, etc. If you remove the .props file, I believe the images "flatten" so that all the callouts etc. become part of the image.

Re: Newbie Question: Moving files
I think Andrew summed it up nicely.
I make a point of moving the props file with the image, that way I can revert to my original capture if needed. Oh, and fix spelling mistakes in callouts as well...

Re: Newbie Question: Moving files
Note that if you change the name of the graphic file in Explorer the name of the props file automatically changes to match. It even does this when Capture is not running. (I thought it might be due to a MadCap service in the background but don't see anything obvious in my services list, so I am not sure. Pretty neat though.)
