Maintaining aspect ratio of a graphic

I need to place our company logo in a page footer. I want to have it sized to be exactly .5" high. In Word this is simple - I just set the height in the Format Picture dialog box and Word sets the height and adjusts the width to maintain the proper aspect ratio.

Flare doesn't maintain the aspect ratio. This means that I have to go into a graphics editor like PaintShop Pro and figure out what the exact dimensions should be.

Yes, I know I can size it by dragging the frame border, but since this is in the Frame Editor window, there's no way I can do it accurately.

Am I missing something, or do I need to raise a feature enhancement request.

Regards
Keith

I know how frustrated you are, but, fortunately, the solution is quite simple.

If you set the image's height property to be .5in, just set the width property to Automatic. That's how Flare will keep the aspect ratio. Same thing goes for when you know how wide you want an image to be; set its width property to something specific and its height property to Automatic.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! Don't know how I could have missed trying that.

Glad to help. And you're not alone! It's quite easy to overlook things when you're new to Flare (and even when you've got years under your belt!).

Where is the "automatic" option for resizing to maintain the aspect ratio?
[*]I click on the frame properties of my image frame and go to the "Frame" tab,
[*]under "size and position" i set the "width" or "height" to default and it simply collapses my image and the aspect ratio is completely lost
Am I missing something here?
