Can glossary definitions be linked to from paragraph text?

Post by Graham Campbell »

I'm trying to use the Glossary Term Link functionality to actually link to the term in my glossary, but using any text I want rather than the glossary term itself.

So for example, I might have a term "field" with a definition that I want to be linked to from the word field in the sentence:

"Data entered is stored in a field in the database"

but also linked to from the sentences:

"...depends on how the data is stored."
"...access the information stored in a database, from a Website or some other defined external source."

etc.

What I want to be able to do is highlight any text in a paragraph and have that link to the definition in my glossary, to be popped up when clicked on i.e. text that can be wholly different from the associated term.

Is there currently a way to do this in Flare, or must it always be restrictied to the term as defined in the project glossary?

(Note: I am aware that I can define multiple terms for the same definition, but from the examples above you can see how that would hardly be ideal!)

See this thread: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =75&t=9894, half way down. You may be better off using topic popups than glossary terms.

Thanks Greg, I'd thought as much but it's good to know for sure.

I've submitted a feature enhancement, so here's hoping something will come of it.
