I appreciate this is a very old post, but I am experiencing the same problem with Mimic 8/Flare 11.
Has anyone managed to get this to work? I'm only really interested in the variables, and would like to get this working before I get too far down the path in creating movies...

Re: Column text that flows? (Not using table cells.)
Hi JeromeR, Have you tried using the multi-column properties in CSS3? I used it to create a two column div for HTML5 output: div.2column { -webkit-column-count: 2; /* Chrome, Safari, Opera */ -moz-column-count: 2; /* Firefox */ column-count: 2; } There are other properties that can be used to contro...

Re: Use Cross Reference AND Hyperlinks
The downside is that the text ("Making tea" in this instance) is the first heading on the topic. Hi all, Just thought I'd add that you can actually specify which heading you want the cross reference to point to (and the corresponding text that it displays), it doesn't have to be the first...

Re: Condition tags are breaking my targets
I too suddenly started experiencing this error today. What a pain! I've been successfully using condition tags on <tr> elements for weeks, added another one today and suddenly Flare no like.
I'll join you in submitting a bug.

Re: Language/Spell Checking Woes
I've checked that out, I've got quite a few targets but they are set: HTML5 Primary Target: UK-English PDFs: (default) But you might be on to something here with regard to targets/mediums... I usually edit/author all of my topics in the XML editor using Layout (Web), but when I change to Layout (Pri...

Re: Language/Spell Checking Woes
Hi Nita, Thanks for your speedy reply as always :) Here's the weird part though - all of my topics are new and created from scratch in Flare. And I selected UK-English when I created the project! There is no language attribute in the topics' xml either, this only appears once I manually select UK-En...

Language/Spell Checking Woes
Hi all, I'm sure I'm just missing a tick box somewhere, but I'm really struggling to get my Project Language to actually work as the Spell Check language. I'm writing in UK English (and my Project Language is set to this within Project Properties) but Flare is spell checking all of my topics as US E...

Re: Graphics Shifting in Snippets
Hi Sharlyn,
Is this just in the XML editor or when you build your targets?
I've found that the XML editor doesn't display my larger snippets correctly (with images, lots of paragraphs etc), but they are fine once built.
Thanks,
Sarah

Re: Cross-references lead to wrong instance of a topic
Hi Karen, I think you may need to reconsider how you are re-using the identical information. As far as I am aware, cross references are not designed to work with topics being repeated within one TOC. Perhaps instead you could have two topics (Topic A and Topic B), one for each User, and put the shar...

Re: mc-multiline-indent Not Working in HTML5 Output
Hi Keri,
I've not used this particular property, but the first thing I would check is the media selected when this change was made. I'm forever being caught out by accidentally only applying it to "print".

Re: Icon bullets & images in tables
Hi Lionel, 2) I encountered this problem where the bullet was appearing in the column to the left. I fixed this by amending my stylesheet so that any lists within a table where shimmied over a little bit: td ul, td ol { padding-left: 2em; } 3) Compare how the rows appear when your cell contents are ...

Re: HTML5 Skin Styles
Eugh - just got it, you were right Kellie - it was those two fields. Problem was when I was trying that last week I was leaving the gradient part as it was in the default Flare skin...which obviously meant it was ignoring any other colour I was trying to assign. Kinda annoying that it wont let me nu...

Hi Kellie,
Thanks for your reply. I've tried that and no cigar That just changes the inside panel (where Topics etc are listed) rather than the outside border part.

Hi everyone, Apologies for what is probably an obvious question, but it's friday afternoon and I cannot figure this out for the life of me... Can reviewers apply conditions?
Hi all, I'm trying to streamline our documentation review process and so (of course) I'm pushing for my team to use contributor. I'm sold by the features I know about so far, but I wondered if contributors can apply conditions to their content? The scenario is: I have a developer who is aware of the...

Which format of printed output are you producing?
I have no problems with footers in PDF output but a plethora of issues with Word.

Re: Opinion: Printed "Document Management" Chapters

Re: Opinion: Printed "Document Management" Chapters
Thanks for your quick response Lisa! I am a sole author so I don't need to worry about other authors' not being as strict with comments in either format. I think I'll suggest we ditch them and just keep an archive folder with the old logs in. I can't remember the last time I read a manual as a user ...

Opinion: Printed "Document Management" Chapters

Re: Flare 9.1 - Controlled Language/Simplified Technical English
From what I gather you need to buy HyperSTE (http://www.simplifiedenglish.net/HyperS ... ce-Content) and then integrate it with MadCap's API... But I can't figure out how to even buy the tool/how much it costs in the first place!
