Can you use variables to perform calculations?
Variables seem to be quite simplistic in Flare, either being text or date content, which is just displayed by choosing the correct value in the target. Can variables contain numerical content, which then can be used e.g. in a sum further down the document? Or at least within the same topic? I.e. poi...

Re: Building Word output
From what I gather, Word output needs a "masterpage" like an html5 output, rather than specific page layouts. However, the issues I've had in the past seem to be mainly that hundreds of "tab stops" are created in the word version, which pushes the content WAY off the page. And re...

Re: Text only cross reference?
Many thanks for spending some time on this Nita. To begin with it seems that it requires creating some very specific xref formats - which I've not tried yet - so I'll have to do a bit of practice on the side myself! Let us know if the bug clears, as it still may be a way to create these types of ref...

Re: Text only cross reference?
I'm going to have to take that information step by step and see if I understand how to implement it! I may be back to clarify what you mean shortly! Thanks for the tips so far.

Text only cross reference?
Hello all, Is it possible to create a cross reference that pulls in the text content from the destination, but doesn't create a clickable link within the pdf or online output? I plan to turn some of the headings into togglers, but if they're already clickable links, then it might create a conflict. ...

Re: HTML5 output in Action!
I have a question - I have tested out a topnav format for one of my manuals, and I have come across a bug which I can't trace: The top nav menu shows the sub-items when you are on the homepage, but when you go to any other page in the system, the drop down menus don't appear any more - you see the b...

Urgent help! Where's the stylesheet in a Review Package?
I've got a major problem with a set of review packages. I exported them for editing by my contributors at a time where I was experimenting with a new stylesheet, and had temporarily changed the primary target for testing purposes. Now the review packages contain styles taken (or missing from) this i...

Re: SMEs creating content with hyperlinks
This is a reply 4 years after this topic was started, and I'm experiencing exactly the same issue. People using contributor cannot create cross-references BETWEEN topics, even within the same review package. Why is this still an issue? It seems like an obvious feature that is desperately needed in C...

Re: Using Cross-references in contributor
This seems unnecessarily complicated to create a cross reference in Contributor. I have some edits that need to be made to references within a review package, but the cross reference popup window only allows you choose locations within the current topic, despite the topic that I want to reference do...

Contributor not using the stylesheet embedded in a template?
Hello All, I'm attempting to create templates for contributors to use when they create new content for specific parts of our manual. When you create a template from a Flare topic the stylesheet, snippets, and images are all embedded in the template file. When you create a new file in contributor by ...

ebook build error
Hello All, I'm trying to figure out why I get an error when building my project as an ebook. I'm only testing this out in the first instance on an existing project which was designed primarily for pdf and web output. I have created a new TOC, new page layouts, and the stylesheet is using default (fo...

Hi Nita, thanks again. Central will be the next thing we trial out, so it may help with this issue. I'll figure it out!

Re: Retain track changes for imported reviews
Hello, and thanks!
I thought that might be the case - but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a button somewhere!
If this is normal operation, then at least I know and can figure a way to work with it.

Retain track changes for imported reviews
Hello All, I'm wondering if I'm missing something obvious. When reviews are received from others who have edited the content of a review package using contributor, the tracked changes are all displayed fine when I'm doing the compare, and then subsequently accepting the new version into Flare. But w...
