Thanks for the detailed reply, Lisa, your posts are always very helpful to me. I've got a better picture of the three-stylesheet structure now.
Haven't retackled those imported tables yet.

Re: Setting table width and column width with Table Stylesheet
You can set an overall width on a table, or set a width on every cell.... Thanks everyone! Lisa, so it would be "legal" to set each column as a percentage? And then, have no table width property? I see there is no way to set the table width property in the table stylesheet editor. However...

Re: Setting table width and column width with Table Stylesheet
I see I need to clarify that I'd like the overall table width to be 100% of what's available, with each column a defined% of what's left. Actually I'm not sure this is possible. Would I need to have at least the first column a fixed width?

Snippets in Contributor - what's the full story?
I'm evaluating Contributor and trying to figure out how snippets come into play. I use them heavily in my projects. I gather that that if one sends an existing topic for review, within contributor the only snippet actions allowed are to delete from topic, add a condition or add an index entry. No wa...

Re: Must pics be on server for reviewers to see them in topics?
Thanks so much for reporting your findings, Bernie! I am evaluating Conributor right now as well. I'm actually taken aback that there is no way to comment on a snippet, or include a snippet with a review package. That's what brought me to this forum today. We use snippets extensively. In fact, I hav...

Setting table width and column width with Table Stylesheet
I'm making a new project with many dozens of tables. I am making one-row tables in snippets, since I will need to display rows individually in some places, and in various-order groups in other places. I am trying to use the TableStyles stylesheets to manage the formatting of these tables. I need eac...

Master stylesheet vs table stylesheet
Hi there, I have not worked with table styles before - I've always manually edited the few tables I use. However, a new project I'm starting will require hundreds of tables. I am considering using table stylesheets to aid with this. However, I am used to using master stylesheets at the target level,...

Re: Building a table from table row snippets?
To the OP, would you be willing to share how you got "close" to the solution? For my current project, condition tags would be impractical. I'm documenting programming languages under development. I will need a master instruction table to display in one topic, and for each instruction I wil...

Each Topic a Separate PDF - is this possible?
Hi Folks, I'm considering using Flare to manage and distribute application notes and related articles. I think the webhelp target would be great for web viewing, but I'll need the PDF option as well. Is it possible to have a PDF target that creates a separate pdf file for each topic, or would I need...

@ Madcap - any news on ebook support?
I'm just moving into single-sourcing our Help, manual, datasheet, and web FAQ. So far, so great with single-sourcing the user-side Help, server-side Web FAQ and mobile targets! Really, it's lots of fun. I'll be embarking on print targets soon. Alongside that, I've been requested to look into options...

Re: Two header / footer "objects", one left-aligned, one right?
As anyone tried using divs with float properties to achieve a 2-column setup? I have 2-column and 4-column sections in my topics using divs, and always float image captions to the right. I may give that a try - I want a link to the welcome page left-justified in the footer, and the copyright, date ...

Re: Numeric character references for custom fonts
Okay, I figured out how to do this using the "Select 'Quick Character'... " dialog each time and entering the unicode value from the font set. (I am already working within pre class tags that name the font set). A mite tedious but a solution that appears to be working. Funny, once I define...

Numeric character references for custom fonts
Hi there, I'm working on an end-user installed WebHelp for a software IDE, in Flare 6. The software installer loads a custom font on the user's machine. Accessing the Help through the software opens an encapsulated instance of the browser window (IE, since the software is Windows-dependent). So, it ...

Re: Adding single-sourcing to a project - automatically exclude?
Thanks so much (once again!) to you Lisa! Both my targets are WebHelp, the main one being resident on the software user's computer. The small standalone FAQ will be added to our company website. So, it is GREAT news to my ears that I can apply condition tags at the folder level, this will take no ti...

Adding single-sourcing to a project - automatically exclude?
Hi all, I've got an existing single-target WebHelp project, no condition tags in there yet. I need to add a small batch of content for a FAQ to the existing target, and the FAQ is also going to be used separately. So now I need to make my existing project a single-sourcing project. I've added a FAQ-...

Re: Embedding fonts in PDF output - is it possible?
A thousand thank-yous, Nita! I will do the reading then. We have a single corporate font, which was created in-house, it is TrueType and so far is behaving reasonably well in Word > WebHelp and Word > PDF operations. That's the only one I'm concerned about, I can work around anything else! -Steph

Embedding fonts in PDF output - is it possible?
Before I embark on converting a large project to single-source for both press-quality PDF in addition to WebHelp, I need to know if I can embed all the fonts used in the print target into the PDF. I asked this at the MadCap Roadshow in San Jose, but the overall fabulous instructors didn't know offha...

Re: About Box still making my life miserable
I have had no trouble with customizing both the toolbar logo and the About box, using separate graphics. I would try making a copy of the image with a different filename, and then using that one for the About box. Then you will know if trying to use the same image for those two functions is causing ...

v4.2 window buttons not working?
Hi, It's been a month or so since I've used Flare, but need to get back into a project. I opened Flare today, and for some reason I am unable to use the top-right buttons to minimize, maximize, or close Flare, and I cannot grab the title bar and move the pane either. If I go to the Windows bottom ba...
