Re: Tables and mediums

I believe you can only create a print medium version of the table stylesheet and if I recall correctly there is a bug where it only looks in the medium called "print" -- it doesn't allow you to specify a different or custom medium. Submit a feature request at http://www.madcapsoftware.com...

Re: Tables and mediums

This might help: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare/Content/Output/Printed_Output/More_About_Printed_Output/Creating_Table_Styles_for_Print_Output.htm Sorry, I should have added one more detail: The outputs I'm working with are WebHelp and WebHelp Mobile, neither of which are Print outputs. Do...

Tables and mediums

I am trying to figure out how to link mediums and table stylesheets. When I open a table stylesheet, I cannot select a medium--the toolbar doesn't provide the dropdowns like the ones in the standard stylesheet editor. The next thing I tried to do is edit the actual table tag (th, td, tr, etc.) in th...

Re: WebHelp Mobile output question

It sounds like it's working like any other Help target. Flare's going to include every topic in your project, unless you explicitly condition things out. What's on or not on the TOC makes no difference. You have to explicitly say what to exclude from the build. The opposite is true for print output...

WebHelp Mobile output question

Does the WebHelp Mobile target always use ALL topics? I ask this because regardless of which Master TOC I select in the target editor for my mobile output, it always uses every topic in my project. I even created a sample TOC with only two topics and chose that one as the master TOC for the target a...

Re: Save To... PDF

I've looked all over Flare on your behalf to see where there might be some setting that controls something. I can't explain why it seems to forget where to fin...

Re: Save To... PDF

Sorry, my experimenting won't be helpful. I tried your steps on several of my topics and, in each case, the images showed up just fine. I don't know what to suggest. If you output the topics to a PDF target, do the images show up then? Or are they missing there, too? They do show up in a PDF target...

Save To... PDF

I am trying to save a topic to PDF. I select File > Save To... and select PDF. The PDF is generated, but any images that are in the topic do not show up. Just little gray squares where the images should be.

This occurs with any topic.

Any help is appreciated.

I select 'Automatically Synchronize TOC' in my Skin, but it never works. Safari 3.0, IE 7/8. No go.

What else can I check?

No pictures in Print Preview

I have a topic with photos. When I select Print Preview, the photos do not display. My photos are 640x480. When I select the print medium, the photos are shrunk to 320x480, as I specify in the medium. However, in either medium the photos do not display in Print Preview. Which means they also do not ...

Multiple projects vs. single-sourcing

My current project is in English. I have now been tasked with creating a French version. Should I create a new French project (Save As... the English version) or try to single-source the English one by using conditionals/targets/whatever other means? Would Lingo be a part of either workflow? Please ...

Ignore crash and keep working!

Flare 4.2.1 on Win XP. I think I've been having issues with the .NET framework because every time I launch Flare, it crashes. ("MadCap Flare has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.") I click on either the Send Error Report or Don't Send button, and...

Re: Word target error

I can't see why. Until v4, Flare couldn't natively create PDF files. It had to use Frame or Word to generate the files, so it seems weird to me that you'd get any PDF files in your Word output directory if you don't have the PDF option enabled. Maybe a question for Support? That might be my next st...

Re: Word target error

Did you verify that the target is selected as Word? Like below: Hi doc_guy, yes I did. I find it curious that the contents of the output folder are PDF files; not a single Word file to be found. Does Flare convert the PDF files into Word at the end of output generation (past the point of my error)?...

Near completion of my Word output, I get an error: "Internal error: Generation of output can not be completed. Command failed" I have Word 2007 running on XP. Flare 4.2.0. When I browse the output folder, there are a bunch of PDF files created, but no Word docs. I even set the output filen...

Re: Relative Links

When you moved the project to the other drive, did you remove it from the Start pane in Flare and then re-add it? Doing so will associate the project with that new location, so all files inside the project should resolve correctly. Assuming, of course, that you're not using source control. I did no...

Relative Links

I moved my Flare project folder from the C: drive to an E: drive (my C: got full). Now, I get all kinds of missing link errors in my output. Apparently, Flare is using absolute links to all my graphic files, so it's still searching for things in the C: drive, which, of course, are all contained in t...

Re: Google Gadgets

It should have worked if you inserted it manually via the Internal Text Editor. Is it giving you an error or just not showing up? And FYI, you won't see it appear in the XML Editor and might not see it in the Preview, but it should appear in the output. I'm not familiar with that option from Google...

Any way to insert Google Gadgets inside a WebHelp system? I want to insert the Google Translation Gadget at the bottom of my pages, via a master page. However, I can't seem to get the syntax right. Is there a way to make the Publish Progress screen look like a UNIX terminal? That way, I can maximize it to make my computer look like it's doing something super-advanced and cool. I have a border attached to my img tag. I also have a no_border class img tag that I apply to, obviously, images that I don't want a border around. 99% of my images have borders around them--I have about 1,000 images. However, I am now having an aesthetic issue in that the little close buttons (with...
