Our team has an online help system for the major software product that we work on. We also have different but related products that have manuals in PDF format. We are in the process of creating online outputs for our PDF manuals.
We know the "hows" of accomplishing this in Flare. However, I'm looking for some technical writing best practices. For example, do we keep calling out chapters in the online output? I'm leaning toward yes because the information is more linear than our current online stuff. What's the best way to display images? Do we keep a list of figures somewhere in the online output? etc.
Anybody have any good examples to share of online help and PDF formats? I'm curios to see a side-by-side comparison.
