Anyone hazard a guess about the Powerpoint export functionality? Wouldn't make my top 100 requested improvements.

New customer marketing ploy, similar to the 'Branding CSS' in the r1 release?

I have played around with it and it's alright. It seems to do odd things with the Print CSS compared to PDF outputs but I haven't had much time to dig deeper. I did notice that inline images i.e. icons in text are not positioned well in the final output. I would have much preferred a release focused entirely on bug fixes, but such is life.

I had previously made my own "PowerPoint" slide page layout a few years ago to produce pretty decent slide output, so I was curious to see this new Flare feature in action. I noticed some of my image thumbnails extend beyond the slide margins in the new PowerPoint target output, so I'll need to do further testing to see if I can prevent the need for extensive post-processing.

Like you, I also would have preferred a release focused on fixing longstanding bugs.

My main dealbreaker for not adopting this new release is that my in-topic side menus don't work properly in the 2024 r2 release. I'm sticking with 2023 r2 and contacting MadCap Support to see whether they can determine why things that work perfectly in 2023 r2 are broken in 2024 r2.

Has anyone tried variables in 2024 r2?

When I want to add a new variable definition to an existing variable it seems to just create a new one and not add.

- Select existing variable
- Click add variable definition
- Add in the details
- Save and it says that you can't have two variables with the same name (but I'm adding a definition not a new one)

Any new one seems to think its just a new variable, anyone else experienced this?
