Increase colours in a gif
Hello I'm working for a client who has lots of gif images that need to be retaken (but still saved as gif). This isn't a problem, except that the gifs in Capture seem to be losing some of their colour and deteriorating in quality from the original. I can't see how to increase the number of colours f...

Re: Easy way to remove span class?
Can you elaborate on that last answer please? I don't follow where I am supposed to enter the expression. Could you explain the syntax of that expression too? (Or is it in the MC Flare help somewhere?).

Re: Easy way to remove span class?
In the end, it was decided to try and rely on the track changes feature. We are going to have a policy of saving a backup of every package received from the developers so there is an audit trail of changes. Whether this will work is anyone's guess. The other proposed option is to generate the change...

Re: Easy way to remove span class?
Wouldn't the easiest way be to just use the inline text colour button in Flare?

Re: Easy way to remove span class?
I'm not sure what you mean by 'media'. Creating a css style with the different background colour doesn't work because there is a need to apply the style to a single word within a paragraph. The authors need the developers to review new/altered content only, and sometimes this might just be a couple ...

Re: Easy way to remove span class?
Thanks Lisa,
The project I am working on at the moment is pretty big, so I'm loathe to do anything that finds and replaces across the whole project. Internal Text Editor it will have to be!

Re: Where does Flare store local user settings?
I've already reported the issue and John and co are looking into it. So far, removing the Catapult MDI folder from Users>AppData>MadCap Software and turning off the Auto Reload documents feature (File>Options) seems to have helped a lot.

Easy way to remove span class?
Hello everyone, I'm sure this is a really dumb-ass question, but I don't normally use <span>... Today, I was asked to add some styles that can be used to indicate new content that needs to be reviewed. All that was needed was some background colour behind the text, so I created 3 different span clas...

Re: Where does Flare store local user settings?
Found it and fixed the problem. In case anyone else ever needs to know, the registry settings are at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > MadCap Software > Flare > Projects > (a project number > OpenDocuments. To prevent the crash problem, I just deleted the registry settings within OpenDocuments. When I...

Where does Flare store local user settings?
Hi all, I've got a problem with Flare crashing when I launch it. I think it might be related to the topics that it tries to open (from my last session). Can anyone tell me where Flare stores the information relating to which topics were previously open? I'm hoping that if I can remove that info, Fla...

Re: Update Cross References option is greyed out. WHY?!!!
I'm trying to open them in the XML editor but Flare crashes instantly, every time. I have reported this to support and they are looking into it. I can open them in the text editor mode, but as you pointed out, the update cross references tool isn't available.

Update Cross References option is greyed out. WHY?!!!
I need to update the cross-references in some topics as part of a process for tracking UL and OL errors in the code. But when I open the topics, Tools>Update Cross References is greyed out. Can anyone tell me why this might be?

Re: Text indented in bullet list
Without the indent, it aligns under the bullet or number. I don't want that - I want it to align to the text to the right of the bullet or number. When I was experimenting before, the 2em indent was the only successful solution...I'll try it without and see what happens as you are more likely to be ...

Re: Custom dropdown in webhelp toolbar
I solved this issue in another thread (with some help). Looks like the CSS menu needs to be applied to the htm files outside of Flare, after the build/publish process.

Splitting up a project into multiple projects - Alias files
Hello all, For our help system (first run at using Flare for our help), we are importing our entire suite as a chm. We will then auto-generate an alias file for our context sensitive help (we don't need the header file as we handle CSH in a slightly different way). What I would like to know is - wha...

Re: Making multiple CSS files work
Am I right in thinking that there is a sort of hierarchy to how the style sheets are applied? At the moment, I think it works like this: If the Target has a style sheet specified, that is the style sheet the whole project will use. If the Project has a style sheet specified, it will be used instead ...

Re: Text indented in bullet list
Thanks Lisa,
Yes, that worked. All I needed to do was create a P.Indent class for the P tags within the lis. I set them to have a left-margin of 2em to get the text to line up with the text of the bullet point (rather than the bullet point itself).

Re: Text indented in bullet list
Thinking about it...all of the MadCap-specific tags will be invalid code too, so maybe the best solution for online would be to clean up the htm topics anyway.

Re: Text indented in bullet list
Hi Hjord, yes it works for me - but the code isn't valid HTML (I think not, anyway). It's not a big deal really, but if there was ever a need to put the help on the web, I guess it could affect Google rankings if there is invalid code? Or maybe P inside a UL or OL is supported by HTML5?

Re: Text indented in bullet list
Thanks. Actually, I've not used DIVs in Flare before (I have messed about with them briefly in web editors). How do I apply the DIV to the text between <li>s? Do I have to do that in the text editor or is there a more user-friendly way?
