Re: IT'S BAAAACK: What's wrong with my fade in/out code?
I have been following this topic with much interest. I implemented the original solution in my topnav output and it worked (yay!). Then I decided to experiment with sidenav, so I made the change to the script to use the div.body-container reference. It didn't work. I am not adding much to the conver...

Re: How to use Menu Proxy to show in-topic TOC
The miniTOC proxy shows topics underneath the current topic, based on the TOC. So if you have the following in your TOC: Topic 1 --SubTopic 1 --SubTopic 2 The miniTOC shows Subtopic 1 and 2 when you are in Topic 1. What I have is Topic 1 with subheadings within the topic. I want a menu to show the s...

How to use Menu Proxy to show in-topic TOC?
I feel like I'm missing something really obvious here, so I'm preparing myself for the "duh!" moment. I want to use the Menu Proxy to show an in-topic TOC, but I only want the menu to show when the topic has subheadings. If the topic doesn't have subheadings, it shouldn't show. I put the M...

Stop auto-checking for updates?
Is there a way to stop Flare from auto-checking for updates when it starts up? I'm not ready to upgrade to v2018 and I'm tired of looking at this dialog. I quickly scanned through the application options and searched Flare help but didn't see anything.

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try when I upgrade.Psider wrote:I had a quick test. If you set the mc-heading-level property for a style, it appears in the menu proxy at that level (I only tested using mc-heading-level: 1, which worked)

Re: TOC based on headers within topic
Note that Flare 2017r3 now includes this feature with menu proxies. If you add a menu proxy and select Headings , it will create a menu based on the heading levels in your topic. Help: http://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2017r3/Content/Flare/Proxies/Creating-Topic-Menu.htm?Highlight=headings I'm cu...

Re: Formatting issue with TopNav template, Home page
Sorry, forgot to specify: I am using Flare 2017 (not r2 or r3). Thanks for the assistance. What I realized after looking at your test is that the Flare template does do the same thing, you just have to get it really unreasonably skinny before it happens. They have less text than I do and more space ...

Formatting issue with TopNav template, Home page
I created some TopNav output using Flare's TopNav template. I customized the Home page to remove the slide-show under the search bar and the video section at the bottom of the page, and made some other little tweaks to colors and such. I still have the middle section with a text blurb on the left an...

JasonSTI, would you be willing to share the :after style you are using in your stylesheet for this? I'm looking for the same sort of thing, and it would save me a lot of trial and error.

Re: Can a variable definition include another variable?
You can use a variable within another variable's definition. I'm not sure when the functionality was added. I think I stumbled on it 2 releases ago (2016 R2 or whatever that was). When your cursor is in the definition field, there's an Insert Variable icon that you can use to select another variable...

Re: Want to add chapter numbers in the TOC
Sorry for the delay, I was out of town. For example, my H1 looks like: h1.StandardHeading { mc-auto-number-position: outside-head; mc-auto-number-offset: 50px; mc-auto-number-class: white; mc-auto-number-format: 'CH:Chapter {chapnum}: '; page-break-before: always; } The mc-auto-number-class: white f...

Re: Want to add chapter numbers in the TOC
I have a setup like this. On my h1s that I want to show with Chapter # in the TOC, I have applied an auto-number format to the h1 but the class of that format is set to display:none. So the h1s that start the chapter don't actually show the chapter number, because it's hidden there. But the TOC stil...

Visited psuedo class in PDF
I'm not sure if this is a silly question, but, does the visited pseudo class work in PDF for hyperlinks? I have set a visited color but I do not see it changing in the PDF after clicking the link. So I'm not sure if I've done something wrong, or if that just doesn't work in the first place. Part of ...

Re: Version number in PDF output file name
I found that if you include the extension in the Output File name, then the content after the dot in the variable is preserved. So if the Output File is defined as just [Variable], then the content after the dot is stripped and the extension is added after the dot. But if the Output File is defined ...

In the Skin, on the Setup tab, you can enable Hide Navigation Pane on Startup.
This minimizes the left-hand panel with the TOC/Index/etc.

Re: Facing pages and cross references
You can set your PDF reader to enable Show Cover Page in Two-Page View and then it will probably work (assuming the cover page is the thing throwing off the facing pages). However, I don't think this is a setting you can enforce in the PDF output via Flare (perhaps you can using Acrobat, I don't kno...

Any reason NOT to generate tagged PDF?

Re: Related Topic title text - how to style?
Just to close the loop -- I tried again, and it didn't work -- font formatting applied to MadCap | RelatedTopics got applied to the list items, even if I tried to "override" it on the list styles. So instead, I formatted the miniTOC title to match the RelatedTopics title instead of trying ...

Re: Related Topic title text - how to style?
Sorry for the delay in responding, I was out for the holidays. The "In this Section" mini-TOC bit works fine for me. The problem is with the Related Topics. I am displaying it as a list rather than a pop up. I found that when I set MadCap | RelatedTopics to bold (for example), it set the &...
